As of August 2010 these irrigation channels were not yet repaired. Only the channel of Chalt paeen has been repaired. This situation has aggravated a number of issues such as scarcity of drinking water, irrigation water and food items,.
The Karakorum Highway was blocked for many weeks. Food items and fuel shortages were common in all parts of Gilgit Baltistan with the begining of Ramazan. No gas, no fuel and no food was available. A new road via Babusar was opened for small jeeps which carry fuel (Petrol & Diesel) in mini pots. At this time diesel and petrol is being sold at Rs.170/litre. As result, the prices of all items including food were sky high.
All the potato crops were spoilt in Nagar due to the blockade of the Karakorum Highway. Besides, the rains also destoyed the apricots in Nagar. No single apricot in Nagar was available to eat. NDO was busy estimating the damages in Nagar and developed a proposal to support the region.
